HANGING OF THE GREENS

On Sunday, November 23, we will have Thanksgiving Sunday during worship. After Worship, we will decorate the church for Advent and Christmas.

We call this "Hanging of the Greens"!!  ALL are welcome to join us!

We erect a Christmas tree in the front of the sanctuary and then we decorate it with Chrismons.  "Chrismon" means monogram of Christ.  It was first used as a reference to only one symbol, the Chi-Rho.  Today, Chrismons have come to mean many other symbols that refer to Christ, and more specifically, a Christmas tree ornament based on a Christian symbol.  The history of Chrismons  goes back to the days of the early Christian church and the earliest expressions of religious art.  All Chrismons are white and gold. White, the liturgical color for Christmas, refers to Jesus' purity and perfection; gold, to His Majesty and glory.  Tiny white lights are used on the tree to symbolize Christ, the Light of the World.
